Overview
Generate a master service agreement from HubSpot
Every new client used to start with the same negotiation: payment terms, who owns the work, liability, confidentiality. An MSA ends that, and then the file gets copied from the last client, the old customer's name survives in the opening paragraph and the address is two clients out of date.
This template changes only what should change. Data merge fills the customer's company name and street address from the HubSpot company record, stamps the agreement date, and puts the signer's name and job title in the customer block. eSignatures go to the provider and the customer from the same workflow.
The agreement is built so that each project needs only a short Statement of Work (US), which pairs with it. It suits agencies, consultancies and software teams that run repeat work for the same customers, and the whole set ladders up to contracts.
Who is this for
Is this template right for you?
Legal, sales, and operations teams managing recurring agreements.
-
Terms agreed once, reused every time. Payment, ownership of deliverables, confidentiality, liability and termination are written into one reviewed document, so a new customer starts from your standard terms instead of a fresh negotiation.
-
Customer details match the CRM. The customer's name and address come from the HubSpot company record, so the agreement cannot name a different entity than the one you are actually selling to.
-
Short project paperwork after it. With the MSA in place, each engagement needs only a Statement of Work covering scope, deliverables, timeline and fees, which keeps new projects moving.
Setup
How to set up the master service agreement workflow
-
01
Step 1: Connect HubSpot and Google Docs
Open Portant, install the HubSpot app from the Marketplace, and connect the Google Drive account that will hold the MSA template and the generated agreements.
-
02
Step 2: Fill the provider block and governing law once
Your company name and address are bracketed placeholders, and so is the governing state, which reads California for both the law and the courts. Replace the placeholders once, and delete or complete the bracketed note about attaching a data processing agreement if personal data is involved.
-
03
Step 3: Check the company and contact mapping
The customer name, street address, contact first name, last name and job title are already mapped to the HubSpot company and contact. Confirm the properties match how your portal names them and that the right contact is the signer.
-
04
Step 4: Set the trigger and signing order
Choose the app card button or workflow action that starts the run, set who signs first under eSignatures, and tell output management where to file the signed PDF.
Frequently asked questions
A master service agreement, or MSA, sets the standing legal terms for an ongoing services relationship. Each project is then described in a separate Statement of Work that references it. This template generates one from a HubSpot company record and sends it to both parties for signature.
The company's name and street address fill the customer details in the opening paragraph, and the signing contact's first name, last name and job title fill the customer signature block. The agreement date comes from the run timestamp. The provider details are fixed text you fill in once.
Clause 1 says each engagement is described in a Statement of Work signed by both parties and referencing the MSA. If an SOW conflicts with the MSA, the SOW wins for that engagement only. Statement of Work (US) is the companion template.
The template reads State of California for the governing law and for the courts, in brackets so you can replace both with your own state. Check the other bracketed items too, such as the data processing note, before you send the first agreement.
No. The template itself says it is not legal advice and should be reviewed with a lawyer. It also lists optional sections you may want to add, such as service level terms, insurance requirements, security standards and publicity rights.
Yes. The document has a provider block and a customer block, and the agreement states that electronic signatures count. Portant sends it for eSignature in the order you choose and saves the signed PDF back on the HubSpot record.
