A plumbing invoice should include your business name and contact details, the customer's details, a unique invoice number, the invoice and due dates, the service date and job address, and an itemized list of the work. Put labour and parts on separate lines with quantities, unit prices and line totals, then show a subtotal, any call-out fee, tax, the total due, and your accepted payment methods and terms. Clear labour and parts lines make it easy for customers to see what they are paying for.

List each part on its own line with the quantity multiplied by the unit price, and bill labour either as hours worked multiplied by your hourly rate or as a flat job rate. Keep parts and labour separate so the total is easy to verify. If you track jobs in Google Sheets, the spreadsheet can total every line for you and Portant will merge those figures straight into the invoice.

Many plumbers charge a call-out or service fee to cover travel and the first part of the visit. Show it as its own line item and mention it in your payment terms so there are no surprises. A call-out fee is especially common for emergency and after-hours work, where it is often higher than a standard visit.

Both are common. Diagnostic, emergency and repair work is often billed by the hour, while replacements and installations are frequently quoted at a flat rate. Whichever you use, an itemized invoice that shows labour, parts and any call-out fee separately gets you paid faster and avoids disputes.
